Beyond the jar is part of a new campaign helping people to discover the unique creation process of CHANEL skincare products, from nature to the jar, CHANEL made and screened a series of short films showcasing the rarity of the ingredients, the quality of their homeland, the ancestral know-how of farmer artisans and the creativity of researchers.

Challenge

Making just two copies of a beautiful book is no challenge, but keeping the trademark CHANEL black border around the edge certainly is! With such an elegant and narrow border, anyone will immediately see any uneven ness in the thickness of the line. However, by making a blank prototype we can carefully adjust the printing to fit. For the text, the book needed to be thick and interesting and so for this, of course, we simply repeated the content.

  • Design: Danny Sturgess.
  • Printing: Offset digital in the UK using four colour process on Mohawk paper.
  • Binding: Fully bound in Linen Emboss Wibalin over 2.5mm board with blind embossing on face.
