Imagine is the third volume in Sean Palfrey’s photography book series, featuring previously unpublished work from five decades of artistic output. Filled with mysterious, abstract and beautiful imagery it presents a captivating collection of expressive shapes, patterns, illusions and musings in both colour and words.
Palfrey is a renowned paediatrician and child health advocate who has travelled the world for his work, passions and pleasure. His fascination with people, places and stories informs both his artistic and his professional practice. In Imagine, Palfrey has created a panoply of images and flights of fancy, some figurative and some abstract, but all of them start from a photograph of the real – an object, a texture, a landscape. In accompanying meditations, the photographer references ideas, art, philosophy, poetry, music, science, memory and visions of childhood as starting points for imaginative adventures.
Whether it’s a single, carefully constructed shot of a patch of sand, the reframing of already existing art or a composition of multiple exposures to make the familiar new, Palfrey’s images enjoin us to let our minds take flight and embrace a wondrous world of juxtaposition, collage, colour and thought.
This captivating new book joins Home and Wander in a growing collection that artfully combines photography with lyrical prose and breathtaking multiple-exposure imagery. To celebrate the success of this remarkable series, we’re delighted to offer you all three books – Home, Wander, and Imagine – for £60. Add all three books at checkout, and the discount applies automatically!
